Interview to Lina Forsgren, Sweden

What is the moment of the day you enjoy the most?
That’s a hard one. It depends much on which day of the week it is. Weekdays I like the morning, eating a nice breakfast and listening to the radio. On the weekends I like the evenings when I can relax and do something fun. Go out or eat a nice dinner with my boyfriend.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to a great variety of genres. Everything from electronic pop to post hardcore.
Please list 5 resources across any media you tune in to regularly.
I listen to podcasts almost everyday and listen to music on Spotify almost all the time. I guess Tumblr is kind of taboo nowadays but I love just looking at stuff people have made. Behance Network is a really nice site and I play channels on the internet!
How would you describe your style?
That’s a hard one too. I think I’m in the middle of a big progress right now when it comes to style. I’ve always drawn a lot of detailed drawings with graphite pens but I’ve began to look more towards graphic design and digital illustration. I like experimental stuff as well as modernistic. But I like to mix them to make something new. Eclectic maybe in some way.

Are there any designers/artists/architects from the past whose work you admire?
Not someone specific. I’ve never had any idols in that sense really. I like to see what people do right now.
Describe a typical working day.
I wake up at 6.30 am. Then I take the subway to school which takes half an hour. We’re 14 people in my class and we often work in groups. Right now we’re working on a communication concept for our product design students at Stockholm Furniture Fair. We always laugh a lot. The same time I’m in school I often do freelance work too. I drink too much coffee and eat too many cinnamon buns. I almost never leave school before 7 pm. Sometimes its 11 pm.

What would your dream work be like?
I would have my own small design studio together with someone I work well with.

Is there someone you would like to work for?
Right now I feel that I’d like to work with a film maker and do graphics for a film. I’d like to try it out. I would also like to work with artists and do design for their music. I don’t know. I’d like to do almost everything, except for something that’s political in a way I don’t like.

Can you recommend some of your favorite books?
Eating Animals By Jonathan Safran Foer and Just Kids by Patti Smith.
What do you expect for the future?
I want to have my own studio that I hope is successful. I’d also like to have a family with kids and all that. I always want to be in love. I can also feel that I’m working too much even though I’m still young. I havn’t had the time to travel or explore the world to much so maybe I want that for my future too.
